About the Morse Code Translator
Our free Morse code translator converts plain text to International Morse code and decodes Morse code back to readable text in real time. Whether you are a ham radio operator, a student learning Morse, or just curious, this tool handles the full alphabet (AโZ), digits (0โ9), and common punctuation marks.
How Morse Code Works
Each letter and digit is represented by a unique combination of dots (ยท) and dashes (โ). A dot is a short signal and a dash is three times as long. Symbols within a letter are separated by a short gap, letters are separated by a longer gap, and words are separated by an even longer gap โ represented here as /.
Audio Playback Timing
- Dot: 100 ms tone
- Dash: 300 ms tone
- Gap between symbols: 100 ms silence
- Gap between letters: 300 ms silence
- Gap between words: 700 ms silence (represented by /)
